Pure winter anticipation

in the Silvretta Montafon
Monday, 24 October 2022

Extensive freeride routes, perfect slopes and spectacular events await all winter sports enthusiasts in the sportiest ski area. Since December 2021, visitors to Silvretta Montafon have also been able to experience the new Valisera lift and the Silvretta Park Montafon, which houses, among other things, the largest e-charging garage in Vorarlberg. With the introduction of a "dynamic pricing" model in the Montafon Brandnertal mountain railroad network, early bookers in particular can now benefit from attractive ticket prices.

With not one but two innovations, Silvretta Montafon is offering the opportunity to make your winter vacation fully electric, from the moment you arrive to the moment you hit the slopes. With the first autonomously operated cable car in Austria, the Valisera Bahn, a world first was put into operation in 2021. Reduced to the essentials, the new 10-seater D-Line gondolas from Doppelmayr have since been available to guests as a very special ropeway experience. The low-noise and low-vibration lift guarantees maximum ride comfort and technical performance. At the same time, the modern Silvretta Park Montafon opened its doors and, with an integrated e-charging station, offers 50 parking spaces for electric vehicles and a total of 600 parking spaces. The multifunctional building complex houses a large market hall with regional gastronomy, which has the right offer for every taste. An Intersport store with ski depot and the ski school center also provide visitors with everything they need for a successful day on the mountain. Since this summer there is another novelty: The Revier Mountain Lodge Montafon. In combination with a public restaurant, the new hotel directly at the cable car station is a fantastic starting point for sports activities of all kinds.

Away from the rigid pricing model - early bookers benefit from "dynamic pricing
From the 2022/23 winter season, the Montafon Brandnertal cable car association, which also includes Silvretta Montafon Bergbahnen, will be introducing a dynamic pricing model for day and multi-day tickets. With the help of an algorithm, prices are recalculated on a daily basis. In this way, the mountain railroads react to influencing factors such as fluctuations in demand and the time of booking. Those who buy their mountain railway tickets early, e.g. directly when booking their family vacation, thus benefit from attractive ticket prices. Skiing during the week or in the off-season should also become more popular as a result. If tickets are purchased online, via the newly designed webshop or the Silvretta Montafon app, long queues at the ticket office can also be avoided. Tickets purchased online can be picked up easily and without waiting at a Pick Up Box, which can be found at all valley stations. The season and annual tickets will have fixed prices as usual - for frequent travelers they therefore remain the most cost-effective alternative. Advance sales for these tickets will continue until December 8.

Winter activities & culinary highlights
You can reach the Austrian ski region by car in less than three hours from Munich in a relaxed and stress-free way without pass roads and snow chains. On 140 kilometers of slopes and with 35 cable cars, the Silvretta Montafon offers its guests a wide range of downhill runs in front of a unique panorama. From the highest point at over 2,430 meters, the longest valley run in Vorarlberg leads down into the valley to Schruns. Early risers are rewarded with a unique morning atmosphere on the mountain during one of the sunrise runs. Those who want to prove themselves athletically can do so best at the Black Scorpions Challenge. The Black Scorpions are the five steepest slopes in the Silvretta Montafon with a gradient of up to 67 percent. Those who conquer them all and track their descents in the SiMo app collect points that can be redeemed for attractive vouchers. A hearty stop at the Kapellrestaurant or the Nova Stoba with its panoramic view is a great way to replenish your energy reserves afterwards. After an extensive day of skiing, it's off the slopes directly to the wine tasting in the VINNOVA, the highest wine tavern in Vorarlberg.

Sporty & musical - the event season in Montafon
From 07 to 09 December the traditional FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup takes place in the Silvretta Montafon. Here the international snowboard elite will meet for spectacular competitions on the steep and curvy course at the Hochjoch. In addition to exciting races, spectators can also look forward to a varied supporting program. In February everything revolves around deep snow skiing: From 03 to 05 February, the Powderfest will take place. Clinics, workshops and tours for beginners as well as experienced freeriders will be offered. At the Open Faces Freeride Contest on February 25, the elite of freeriders will once again meet in Montafon. The best view of this spectacular event is from the terrace of the Nova Stoba. Finally, DJ Ötzi will ring in the countdown to the winter season on March 11. The unique season finale will be taken over by folk rock'n'roller Andreas Gabalier, who will come to the Silvretta Montafon with his "Dirndl - Wahnsinn - Hulapalu" tour on 01 April 2023.
