Winter hiking in Silvretta Montafon

Metres deep snow as far as the eye can see. Sunshine that turns the white snowy landscape into a glistening winter wonderland. A silence that instantly makes you relax and take a deep breath. Winter hiking in Silvretta Montafon is beyond enjoyable. Just put on your hiking or winter boots and you’re all set to leave your tracks in the snow.

Gantakopf, Älpli, Grasjoch or Vier Barga: A total of four beautiful winter hiking trails lead through the breathtaking mountain landscape of the Montafon. Immerse yourself in this white winter world and become one with nature!

Four tour tips at a glance:

Hiking trail Innerkapell

From Silbertal you start with the Kapellbahn up the mountain. The winter hiking trail starts at the mountain station and leads through a fairy-tale snow-covered landscape to Innerkapell. The way back follows the same route. Before or after the winter hike, you have the opportunity to enjoy an up & down ride on the Panorama Bahn with breathtaking 360-degree views of around 200 mountain peaks.

Hiking tour to Grasjoch in winter

A small but beautiful little loop where every winter hiker gets to enjoy the fascinating mountain world of Silvretta Montafon. It starts at the Grasjoch mountain station located right next to Grasjoch Hütte. And it's perfect for parents who want to bring their ambitious little winter hikers.

Hiking trail Valisera

The winter hiking trail Valisera is the longest winter hiking trail in the Silvretta Montafon with 2.7 km if snow conditions are sufficient. If snow conditions permit, the hiking trail (Valisera I+II) leads to the Valisera cable car mid-station and can also be walked uphill in the opposite direction from there. If only the hiking trail Valisera I is open due to the above mentioned reasons, the way back has to be done on the same route back to the top station.

Hiking trail Sonnenbahn

This walk at over 2,000 meters impresses with the breathtaking view and the dreamlike panorama. The Valisera Hüsli mountain restaurant or the Bella Nova at the mountain station of the Valisera cable car provide culinary delights.

Gantakopf panorama route

Breathtaking scenic views of the surrounding mountain panorama on your way towards the Gantakopf are bound to leave you in awe. From the Versettla mountain station, the trail leads you directly to the Gantakopf and back. That’s winter hiking pleasure at its best for lovers of nature! 

Tip for your break – Nova Stoba: At 2,010 metres above sea level, you’ll find the biggest mountain restaurant in Silvretta Montafon. Alongside charming rustic hut flair, you can look forward to an extensive selection of fine wines at the VINNOVA. Stop by and enjoy!

Vier Barga hike 

This loop hike leads you from the Versettla cable car mountain station to the Vier Barga scenic viewpoint on a signposted trail. The tour will take you approximately an hour, and it lets you experience the mountain world of Silvretta Montafon up close and from its most beautiful side.
