The climbing route in detail
The journey begins with taking the Versettla Bahn cable car from Gaschurn. Upon arrival at the mountain station, you’ll follow the waymarks leading you to the start of the Madrisella via ferrata. You’ll pass Alpe Nova and continue towards Lake Serressee. Once you reach the overflow channel of the lake, make a left turn and follow the trail marked with blue and white cairns. From this point, it’s only a 10-minute walk to the starting point of the via ferrata.
From the entry point, you’ll ascend along a continuous steel cable, eventually reaching a point just 100 metres below the Madrisella summit. At this juncture, a trail marked blue and white will guide you to the summit cross. The highlight of the route is undoubtedly the impressive 120-metre rock face, which requires both a good head for heights and physical stamina. The return journey takes you via Versettla to Nova Stoba, where you can indulge in a well-deserved treat. After experiencing the wonders of nature on the rock, there’s nothing like having a refreshing beer or homemade lemonade!
