SiMo Gagla Club

Showcase project for in-company childcare in tourism regions
Tuesday, 14 February 2023

Since mid-December 2022, Silvretta Montafon has been operating a childcare center in Schruns that is specially tailored to the needs of employees and businesses in tourism regions. On January 11, 2023, the SiMo Gagla Club (Gagla are children in the Montafon dialect) was officially opened.

In the first phase, the SiMo Gagla Club offers all-day care for children between the ages of three and ten on weekends (Fri/Sat/Sun) and during vacation periods. The offer is thus coordinated with the main tourist working hours, during which public childcare facilities are closed, and is aimed at employees who would otherwise have no opportunity to return to work or find full-time or part-time employment in the tourist environment.

For employees of Silvretta Montafon, the SiMo Gagla Club (incl. meals and transport) is free of charge, regardless of the extent of their employment (full-time, part-time, temporary). Other companies or private individuals can also use the SiMo Gagla Club for a contribution to costs if there are free places. In the further consequence also co-operation with other enterprises from the region can and should result from it.

The pedagogical concept of the SiMo Gagla Club focuses on an active occupation of the children, not only in the newly designed rooms but often also outdoors or on the mountain. Although formally a recreational facility and therefore only a supplement to public childcare facilities, the aim is to encourage and inspire the children during their time at the SiMo Gagla Club. The facility is run by Nathalie Petit, a trained educator who brings years of experience to the table.

"Flexible childcare tailored to the needs of employees and companies is one of the most important levers for integrating female employees in particular into the labor market. As a major tourism employer, we have taken the initiative here to offer new opportunities to our employees. We hope, however, that after the start-up phase, cooperations with other companies will arise in order to increase the overall attractiveness of the Montafon as a tourist working region," explains Peter Marko, Managing Director of Silvretta Montafon.
