Panorama cable car

Since winter 2014/15, skiing at Silvretta Montafon has become even more attractive and comfortable.

A new 8-seater cable car was built at a cost of around 12.5 million euros. With a length of 2,370 meters, the Panorama cable car is the longest sports cable car in Vorarlberg.

The new Panorama cable car offers winter sports enthusiasts a far easier and more comfortable way of reaching the Kreuzjochsattel, starting point for the famous Hochjoch Totale (Vorarlberg’s longest descent) as well as powder-snow pistes and deep-snow slopes on the Grasjoch.

The Panorama cable car runs between Kapell and Grasjoch in the place of two chair lifts, is being extended towards Seebliga and takes winter sports enthusiasts to the second highest point in the ski resort. The travel time from the Kapell up to a height of around 2400 meters has been reduced from over 30 minutes to just 8. At the top, breathtaking 360-degree views of some 200 mountain summits await; it is with good reason that the new facility has been named the ‘Panorama cable car’.

The cable car not only impresses with its spectacular views, but also in terms of sustainability. For example, the valley and summit stations come from the pool of the Floriade cable car, which was operated in Venlo, Netherlands, in summer 2012. When designing the valley and summit stations, measures were taken to ensure that these were integrated harmoniously into the alpine landscape. In parallel to the Panorama cable car, new pistes and ski routes were also created to make the Hochjoch ski resort even more attractive.

Wi-Fi in all 65 gondolas

A Wi-Fi network with full area coverage was developed in cooperation with our partner Loop21. This makes surfing the net while heading up or down the mountains as easy as pie. Such convenience is only available in two of Austria’s ski resorts. And those who prefer to sit back and look around can simply stare in awe at the views and enjoy the many peaks of the Rätikon mountains.

The construction of the modern, 8-seater gondola cable car from Doppelmayr marks a further important step towards the ski resort’s modernization. By financing the project, Bank für Tirol und Vorarlberg AG once again made a valuable contribution to the development of the destination and the strengthening of the Silvretta Montafon brand.
Most of the work on the mountain was carried out by regional companies.
